Pierhouse Hotel to revive landmark Castle Stalker View Café

The Pierhouse Hotel in Port Appin has announced that it has taken over Castle Stalker View Café, which overlooks Loch Linnhe between Ballachulish and Connel.

Often described as the café with the “best view in Scotland”, the Pierhouse team has confirmed plans to reopen the venue, closed since April 2025, in time for Easter next year following a full refurbishment. The café sits just two miles from the hotel.

Fiona McLean, General Manager at The Pierhouse Hotel, said, “It’s a privilege to be leading the revival of this iconic Argyll coast venue and ensuring its continuation as a local community and tourism asset.

“The cafe has been an integral part of Argyll’s tourism offering for more than 20 years, so we’re committed to preserving its legacy, while enhancing the experience for both locals and visitors.”

The Pierhouse have already been working on the daytime menu with a focus on home baking and local, seasonal produce. They will also be providing a small shop which will carry Scottish and local products as well as store cupboard essentials.

The Pierhouse Hotel is home to Scotland’s ‘Chef of the Year’ and ‘Romantic Restaurant of the Year’ 2025. The Pierhouse Hotel restaurant has three silver stars, two AA rosettes and is one of only three Argyll restaurants included in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland.
