Splendid Hospitality Group has appointed Jamie Milligan as General Manager for the new Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House, due to open in September 2022.
Jamie, who has a wealth of industry knowledge and understanding of the Scottish hotel sector, started his career in hospitality in Dumfriesshire 16 years ago and has since held senior roles in hotels throughout Scotland, including as General Manager of the Holiday Inn Dumfries since 2017.
During his career, Jamie has worked across a range of operations, including leadership, food and beverage operations and HR, training and development, and has a vast amount of local knowledge of the area and hotel market in Dumfries and Galloway to assist in overseeing the pre-opening of the new 62-bedroom, four-star hotel.
Speaking of his new role, Jamie said, “This is a fantastic venture in the heart of Dumfries, and we are excited to be opening a brand-new hotel, offering over 30 full time jobs in the local market. This new appointment offers so many opportunities for me to collaborate with local businesses and connect with my many contacts, and I am excited to be part of the Splendid family.”
The new 62-bedroom Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House hotel is currently undergoing a complete renovation to turn it into a modern, four-star property. The bedrooms, restaurant and bar, and event spaces for up to 60 guests will feature locally inspired interior and unique design touches reflecting the rich history of Cargenholm House and area.
