An Angus-based operator has taken on the lease of Glamis House, a seven-bedroom Georgian guest house on the Strathmore Estate near Forfar, adding a second property to his portfolio in the region.
Richard Mayers, who owns Balmuirfield House near Dundee, has acquired the lease for the exclusive hire and events property, which sits within the 14,500-acre Strathmore Estate close to Glamis Castle. The house includes a kitchen/diner, lounge, separate dining room, landscaped gardens, basement function space, and a private car park.
Richard Mayers said, “We’re thrilled to be managing this beautiful mansion which shares so much history with the Castle. We’re already attracting visitors from Scotland and across the globe who are looking for luxury vacation rentals or weddings. We have great plans to make Glamis House a beacon for tourists holidaying across Angus.”
The lease was brought to market by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co on behalf of Strathmore Estate, with the process attracting multiple offers.
Simon Watson, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, said, “After a very successful search with multiple offers received, we are delighted to have worked on behalf of Strathmore Estate in finding a new long-term operator for this outstanding business, and we wish both parties every success for the future.”
