Following the celebration of its 140th birthday, Glasgow’s Grand Central hotel has announced the appointment of its new General Manager, Marcello Ventisei.
Glasgow born and bred, Marcello brings a wealth of experience to the role with a hospitality and tourism career that spans over almost three decades. He has held key leadership roles in hotels and resorts across the UK since beginning his career at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
With his local connection and knowledge of the city, Marcello is delighted to be entrusted with the leadership of this historic landmark. He said, “I couldn’t be prouder to take the reins of this magnificent hotel in my home city. I’ve grown up in Glasgow and have so many fond memories of the hotel over the years. It’s truly a special property that is very much loved by the people of Scotland.
“I have long admired the building and its fantastic reputation, which has been a symbol of exceptional hospitality for 140 years. With its rich history and prime location in Glasgow’s Central Station, there is so much to love. What’s more, the Grand Ballroom, which has hosted so many incredible events over the years, is one of the most architecturally stunning event spaces in the UK. I am excited to be able to carry forward the hotel’s tradition of providing unforgettable experiences to our guests. It’s an honour and a privilege to work alongside such a talented team to take this Glaswegian gem to new heights.”
As he steps into his new role, Marcello expressed his enthusiasm for the journey ahead, stating, “My primary goal is to continue the legacy of voco Grand Central Hotel as a destination of choice for both locals and travellers alike, seeking a blend of modern luxury and timeless charm.
“Together, alongside the hotel’s dedicated team, I am committed to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for our guests while upholding the highest standards of hospitality.”
The hotel, part of the voco™ Hotels brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, has recently undergone a multi-million rebrand and refurbishment.
