The Dowans Hotel in Aberlour has been officially recognised by the Michelin Guide, a milestone moment for the family-run hotel 13 years after the Murray family took ownership of the Speyside property.
Lauren Murray, Managing Director of the Dowans Hotel, confirmed the listing and credited the long-term dedication of the entire team for the achievement.
“This recognition has been 13 years in the making,” said Lauren. “From the day we took on the Dowans, our goal has been to build something special here in Speyside. We are incredibly proud of our team, past and present, whose creativity, commitment, and hard work have helped shape the Dowans into what it is today.
Most importantly, we want to thank our guests, the whisky community, and our local community, who have supported and inspired us throughout this journey. This achievement belongs as much to them as it does to us.”
Since acquiring the property in 2012, the Murray family has carried out an extensive programme of restoration and refurbishment, transforming the building into a modern, character-rich hotel while preserving its historical significance. The Dowans Hotel is part of Shawfern Group Limited, a boutique hotel collection focused on showcasing Speyside’s food, drink, and hospitality.
