The Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries is celebrating after their £2m investment in the Spa just 18 months ago has seen it being named as the best in Scotland at the UK Good Spa Guide Awards in London. The spa was selected as a finalist following mystery visits and independent reviews by The Guide’s expert ‘Spa Spies’.
The 86 bedroom Cairndale Hotel Spa, which received help from South of Scotland Enterprise who provided a £400,000 grant, opened in June 2024. The two storey Spa is centred around a hydro-pool with a separate lounge and a “petite juice bar” and includes an infrared sauna and Scotland’s only double Hammam.
Matthew Wallace Senior, Managing Director of The Cairndale Hotel and Spa, said, “To be rated Scotland’s top spa, especially so soon after opening and coming ahead of luxury five star venues renowned across the globe, is a remarkable honour for us and is due to the skills, dedication and hard work of our team.”
He added, “We have created a world-class wellness experience in the heart of the South of Scotland, providing a massive boost to tourism and the overall economy of this beautiful region.”
At the ceremony in London, The Guide’s Spa and Wellness Director, said, “Winners represent the best in the industry, creating experiences that truly elevate the art of spa-ing.”
Judges also paid tribute to The Cairndale’s suppliers including Tribe517, VOYA and Gaia. Products also include whisky from the local Annandale distillery.
