Murrayshall Country Estate in Perthshire has unveiled a new collection of luxury pods as part of the first phase of a £30 million redevelopment project.
The new accommodation offering follows five years of planning and is designed to blend modern comforts with the estate’s natural surroundings. Developed in partnership with local firm Armadilla, the pods represent a 50% increase in the estate’s capacity and are expected to create additional employment opportunities across the 365-acre site.
Located just outside Perth, Murrayshall currently offers 40 rooms and suites. The addition of the luxury pods introduces a new style of guest experience, offering both seclusion and connectivity to the landscape.
“This has been five years in the making and represents the first phase of our £30 million investment in the future of Murrayshall,” said Gary Silcock, General Manager at Murrayshall. “Step into a new kind of countryside experience – that’s exactly what we’ve achieved with these exceptional luxury pods. The 50% increase in our accommodation capacity naturally means more employment opportunities will follow, which is fantastic news for our team and the local community.”
He added, “These pods offer something truly special for guests seeking that perfect blend of comfort and connection with nature. Our recent win of Best Hotel Experience at the Central and East of Scotland Thistle Awards regional final on Thursday 11th September comes at a perfect time for the hotel, adding another exceptional experience to our offering. We now offer three different room choices from main house, suites in Balvaird House and luxury pods.”
Each pod has been designed and positioned to maximise privacy and showcase views of the surrounding countryside. Interiors are fitted with underfloor heating, air conditioning and modern amenities, offering a high-end alternative to traditional hotel rooms. The layout encourages indoor and outdoor living, giving guests more space and flexibility during their stay.
“Working with local partners like Armadilla has been essential in creating an authentic Scottish experience that truly reflects our estate’s heritage,” said Silcock. “These partnerships ensure our guests enjoy genuine Scottish luxury while we continue to support the wider Perthshire business community. We’re also the first in Scotland to work with Sothys, bringing their renowned spa therapists and products directly to the luxury pods, offering something very unique to our guests.”
The launch of the pods forms part of a wider ambition to position Murrayshall as one of Scotland’s top countryside retreats. In addition to the new accommodation, guests can enjoy AA Rosette dining at the Eòlas restaurant, 27 holes of parkland golf and a range of outdoor activities including axe throwing and quad biking. Plans are also in place to expand wellness and leisure facilities with a new spa and fitness centre.
